Sea Angling trip to Minehead – July 17th and 18th 2024

4 Anglers went out on a charter boat from Minehead in Somerset. The weather was good for both days.

On day one 5 species were caught – spotted rays, small eyed rays, smoothhounds and conger eels (and many dogfish!). They were caught with both downtide and uptide methods and on a mixture of squid, crab and fish (mackerel and pilchards) baits.

Club member, and filmmaker, Andy King, superbly captured the events. Follow the links to the YouTube films.

Day two was also dry and we had many similar species as day one but added Pollock to our quarry using thin strips of mackerel as bait.

The skipper was again brilliant, helping with methods and suggested rigs, moving to take advantage of the different stages of the tide and keeping us all in teas and coffees!
