River Great Ouse – Radwell
This peaceful stretch of the River Great Ouse is around one mile long and split by the railway bridge, offering two very different types of fishing.
Above the railway bridge you’ll find deeper, slower water that regularly produces good catches of Roach and Bream.
Below the bridge the river becomes shallower and weedier, providing excellent habitat for specimen Barbel and Chub. While streamer weed and bankside rushes can make fishing more challenging, they also help create ideal holding areas for the fish. This section once produced the club’s long-standing match record, with over 60lb of Chub caught on floating bread crust.
The opposite bank is controlled by another angling club, so you may occasionally see anglers fishing there. However, both banks are generally lightly fished.
Access is via a locked gate, with the river only a short walk away. In suitable ground conditions, vehicles can be driven and parked near the railway bridge to reach the upper section. Please take care to avoid damaging crops and respect any livestock in the surrounding fields.
