Did you know that the Verulam Angling Club offers trout fishing to all club members?
Trout fishing is provided by Verulam Trout. It is not a separate section within the club but a group of dedicated trout angling members pursuing their quarry using artificial flies.
Fly fishing is available within the club to all members. At Riverside Road in the spring and a dedicated all year-round trout lake at Bellows Mill. Both fisheries are regularly stocked each season. Riverside is only stocked with rainbow trout. At Bellows Mill both rainbow and brown trout are stocked
You have to be a member of the VAC and there are then additional fees to trout fish club waters. There is a strict three landed fish limit at Riverside and five landed fish at Bellows Mill on each visit.
BELLOWS MILL AUTUMN 2026 SEASON
Thursday 24th September to Wednesday 16th December 2026 (inclusive).
The autumn season permit price is £145 (no half permits) for 8 visits over the season. Member Day Tickets are £30 and Guest Tickets £40. Rainbow and brown trout will be stocked. The daily limit is five landed fish, including Catch & Release and the permit will provide additional advice.
MEMBER AND GUEST DAY TICKETS
- You will need to quote your current VAC membership number when you buy a member or guest day ticket. Advice on the payment method will be provided by the ticket seller. Guests must be accompanied at all times by a VAC member;
- The Bellows Mill guest ticket also covers coarse fishing on the adjacent Mill Lake;
- Please contact one of the following to ensure places are available and that the trout fishery is open. Payment by bank transfer is preferred. Please do not just pay and go fishing.

Don’t worry if you have never tried fly fishing but would like to take up this branch of angling. Verulam Trout offers free casting tuition, the loan of tackle and advice on what to buy.
During the year away-days to other venues are organised; other events are also held and a regular newsletter keeps you up to date on Verulam Trout news. An annual meeting in Nov/Dec reviews the past year and agrees dates and prices for the following seasons.
