Perch Match March 2016

There was a slightly disappointing response from Verulam members with only 2 out of the 4 anglers taking part being VAC members. This was possibly because we were very honest and made people aware the fishing was not easy but the perch were sizable.

The Stanstead Abbots stretch of the Lea navigation had produced some stoning fish the VAC members with both myself and Colin Rennsion having had different fish of both 4lb 6oz each !!

So back to the match which was rather uneventful. I had a take on a jig head with a 5cm rubber fish which resulted in a nice perch of 2lb 12oz but this proved to be the ony action between 4 anglers who moved along the stretch leapfrogging each other hoping to find a group f perch holed up. After several hours we decided to move to thenearby stretch in ware town centre and whilst the change of scenery was nice the finish was no better with not a touch.

So there you go 5 hours, 4 anglers, 1 perch. Would we do it again, oh yes as we know if you do get one of the perch for here they can be very big, a real fish of a life time.
