Review of 2015 Bury Hill Trip

This year's trip to Bury Hill for the tench day took place on Sunday 17th May. The venue now operates a little differently to previous years, in that only 4 of the punts are available at weekends and fishing from them is restricted to the swims known as the 'jungle'. For this reason the VAC party was reduced in size to get the banter going, but on the positive side less pressure is put on these popular swims, known to be regularly patrolled by the lake's tench and carp population. All places were eventually available to the wider membership with VAC member Andy Childs leading the group. Andy had been on previous trips to the venue and was keen to get back among the fish but with this year's cold spring it was not necessarily going to be easy. That said, a number of tench up to 7lb were netted, the largest falling to Steve Longley, together with bream, a 1lb 8oz roach and a splendid 2lb 2oz crucian for Bill Chambers. See photos below.

Look out for details of more trips being planned by the Events Committee.
