Events for 2017

We are currently developing a programme of Events for members for 2017.

The two trips to Bury Hill very quickly filled up, not surprising given the popularity and success of this Event and we were really excited to be planning to return to this superb location in the Spring. The venue had previously declared an intention to become a syndicate only venue and we thought last year would be our last chance so we were delighted at the prospect of another opportunity.

You will have seen the details for this year's Carp Matches on the homepage, hopefully this will prove to be popular and if you fancy giving it a try be assured of a warm welcome from both the organisers and the other competitors. Dont be put off if your not a dyed in the wool carper. Or how about this as an alternative pursuit, come and volunteer to assist the outstanding charity days at Riverside when we join up with the Masonic Fishing charity.

This year we will have held two events at Riverside with the Masonic Fishing Charity on behalf of children with special needs. The purpose is to enable children with disabilities to have a try at fishing and VAC members who have assisted in the past have found this very rewarding at a personal level. Dates are Wednesday May 17th and Wednesday June 14th. It is not always easy as some of the children have a variety of real problems, both physical and mental but it is rewarding in its own way and always a good day out as the Masons spoil all of us with their hospitality. Should anyone wish to assist please send an email to

In late June we hope to pair up with another club to provide a Barbel day. Twyford & District Angling Club have held an Open Day at their prolific St Patricks Stream venue in previous years and should they proceed in 2017 we may share our resources to create what we believe to be a day to remember.

Looking further ahead we hope to hold both another pole clinic and for the first time a match clinic with either Riverside or Frogmore as the likely venues. Separately we are looking at organising a trip to Rutland Water to seek out some predators and also another trip to the River Itchen, another favourite with members in previous years. It almost goes without saying that another Stick Float Clinic will take place, October being likely and once again we hope to provide some outstanding demonstrators on the day.

As before, the specifics of these opportunites will be commuincated through enews. Also we have a Facebook page that we will be adding updates to at
