Changes Afoot!

Following the recent AGM (where were you all???) we would just like to update you on a couple of changes to the Specialist Committee. Jason Russell has taken the chair officially, and we would like to welcome on board Paul Chilton and Andy Killinger.

Jason has been standing in as Chairman for a year or so anyway, so knows the ropes already. He’ll carry on in the same vein, and we will continue to bring a varied and active programme of events to you all.

Paul Chilton has hosted several events for us in recent years, and due to the increasing popularity of predator-based trips and competitions, we thought it was time he was on board properly. (You could also read into that, that the rest of us know bugger all about predator fishing!). Paul will be getting involved in all aspects of the committee, but will be taking the lead on pike days, zander days etc etc. We’ve seen a significant upsurge in the attendance at our predator based events, no doubt due to Paul’s enthusiasm and knowledge, so hopefully this will continue to grow. It’s worth turning up to these events purely to see Paul impale himself on a treble – he seems to manage it every time without fail!

Andy had kindly taken on the management and running of the Matt Mills Memorial Trophy (the Carp Matches) this year, along with Lewis Wiffen. We thought that Andy deserved a place on the committee, and he’s been working hard to bring the Carp Matches back to life this year. With the first heat due in the next couple of weeks, things seem to be well on track. With new-fangled stuff like facebook pages, we hope it will go from strength to strength under Andy and Lewis’s stewardship. Please come along and support us in the Grand Final – more info on this nearer to the time.

Graham Ross and Dave Currell remain on the committee, and the rest of the gang are co-opted once again this year as helpers. If you fancy getting involved, or if you have any ideas for an event, please let us know. We are always on the lookout for fresh blood (not just from Paul’s treble-impaled fingers) and for new ideas.

We hope to see you at one of our events very soon.
