MATCH RESULT
Date : 9th July 2009
Venue : Riverside Road
Match : Evening Match #4
| Commentary by Stan :
There was a view that Riverside was fishing harder than normal.
True, some didn't bother to weigh in but the results are roughly in
line with the first evening match and other Riverside events. It is
frustrating knowing that there are so many fish in there yet they so
often fail to show during matches. It certainly helps if you draw a good peg, something with cover yet not so snaggy that you loose all you hook. Peg 24 fits that bill. On the first evening match I missed out on it when it was one of two left in the bag and I drew 9 instead. This week there were several good pegs left but I was happy with 24 where I could fish paste tight to the end of the point at 13m there's around 3ft of water and usually some good fish. We're starting earlier now as the evenings start to draw in and was still setting up when Martin Davis to my right on 25 was soon into a 4lb+ carp. I soon matched his with one of my on my first put-in and proceeded to catch steady throughout with about 5 carp, 2 tench to 3lb and a 1lb roach-bream hybrid in the net after 3hrs. My total was 19.08, well clear of Paul on 27 who had one lump of around 7.08 plus some smaller fish for 9.06, just clear of Colin on 53 with 8.13; all small carp, tench, skimmers etc. |
Next evening match is at Frogmore
