The advice was to feed very little but those who caught well did so
with a regular trickle of hook bait.
Top on the day was Paul Bangs with 23-04 from peg 15. A gusty left to right wind made fishing right over very difficult so Paul opted to fish maggot down the middle and had a real mixed bag topped with a 7lb+ carp that took an age to land on no.6 elastic. This is Paul's 3rd Championship win this season - a great achievement. Over by the car park on 24 was Kevin Hawes. This peg won the match the day before with 50lb. Kevin managed a dozen small carp for 20-01 on a mixture of maggot and corn. After a slow start he potted in a big load of bait and found the fish responding straight away. So much for 'minimal' feed. |

It was Graeme Holt in 3rd from peg 9 who fished the 'proper' way, tight to the far bank at 14m with corn and tiny amounts of feed. A slow start and a few bumped fish was enough to deny him the win. Elsewhere, chunky roach, skimmers, crucians and some big perch to nearly 2lb (for Stan) made up the remaining catches. |
