Commentary: The shallower far end was the place to be on this fully booked match. With overnight frost for the previous four nights the expectation was for a hard match and most were hoping for a draw in the deeper end by the car park. But it turned out that the fish had a different agenda and the top four weights were all essentially in a line on pegs 22, 1, 2 & 21 at the top shallow end.
Stan Kiddle pipped Paul Bangs to win by just one fish for his second Ton-Up in a row catching on two lines at 9m, one in 2' of water by the tree roots and a slightly deeper line straight out. Stan used a light 0.12 rig and 18 hook with corn and expanders, feeding very gently with a mix of corn, micros and expanders using a kinder pot to keep the fish interested. |
