Commentary:  The cold clear water from earlier in the week became deeper murkier water thanks to the heavy rains two days earlier. But two nights of zero degrees was bound to hit results and the some were doubting they'd even get a bite.

With 16 fishing all the best pegs were in the bag but the fish were localised and  five of the 16 failed to bother the scalesman.

Roger Smith had practised the day before and decided that a whip and pinkie for small roach would be the tactic. Then he drew peg 20 and proceeded to find small carp and large skimmers on pellet to win with 14.08.

In the middle area, Stan Kiddle on peg 11 was convinced Ash Adams had walked it. But his caster caught mixed bag from by the dying pads was made up of bigger fish and was well clear of Ash, 9.09 over 7.14.

The Knockout draw produced mostly byes except for Neil Anderson vs Graham Holt. Graham was a DNW so Neil's five skimmers for 3-05 was easy enough. One of the three he dropped would have also provided a section win.
