DATE: 04 February 2007
VENUE: Riverside Road
TROPHY: Championship 16
Commentary: We were lucky (if you can call it that) to find that after a second night of hard frost the lake wasn't frozen. Warmed by one of Chris's brekkies 12 brave members (including two juniors) stepped forward to draw hopefully one of the flyer pegs. With just 15 of the best RR pegs in the bag most were in with a chance IF the fish would feed..
Thankfully they did in most pegs although winner Roger had only a handful of bites which, in the space of one hour, gave him three chunky carp, dead maggot down by the brambles on 22 doing the trick. Right up the other end, in the little bay by the gate, Kev Marslin worked his magic with hemp and caster for 11-6 second place bag of small roach.
Close behind (and cursing the four fish he lost) was Phil Rule with six small carp for 10-8. Tim Jones had one bite and one 6-10 carp and yours truly had about 25 small skimmers and roach for an enjoyable 5-11.
The Knock-Out final was deferred to the next match
Just two matches left now - hope to see you there.
