Commentary by Stan:
From peg 24 my view of activity was limited by it was soon apparent that despite milder conditions than of late, fishing was slow. Over on peg 12 I could see Kevin Hawes had an earlier carp around 5lb and Steve Burfoot to my right on 25 had one around 6lb. But little else was happening, even catching small rudd became very difficult after the first hour.
Around on 19, exactly where he wanted to be, Neil Anderson had picked up a few fish and word was that Kev Laird had an enormous carp from peg 5.
After four hours and on and off drizzle things began to happen. Kev H found a double figure carp in the shallow water to his left and I picked up two carp from my left margin. Maybe I was in with a chance I thought. But then Kev landed another double 10 minutes from the end, foul hooked in the tail. It was game over as the scalesman awarded Kev 25.02 for his three carp and a skimmer, just beating Neil who had teased out five smaller carp for a total of 21.06.
Third place went to Kev L whose monster fish turned out to be 12.07 which, along with a mixed bag of smaller fish gave him 18.11. A difficult day for many but the fish were clearly not playing the game - typical for a Frogmore match.
