Commentary by Stan: A couple of late cancellations was one of the few negatives for this day out on this amazing venue. With hurricane storms the day before all was still and warm with sunshine to match. At the draw Steve B proclaimed peg 9 as the flyer and so it proved to be with Andy K taking the honours with numerous carp to 11lb+ across both 150 minute halves. Expander pellet was the successful bait. Tim Jones looked to be the winner at one stage on peg 1 where he had plenty of space and coloured rain water attracting bigger fish. As fish over 5lb were to be weighed and returned it was clear by the number of times Tim visited the scales that he was doing well.
Getting delayed on the way didn't stop Matt from showing off his carp crunching skills with a consistent performance from peg 20 and another 3rd place. I was just one fish behind and the fourth of the ton-up weights - not bad for mid November. But one more good fish for Brian Lakin, Kev Laird, Paul Bangs and Nick Darke would have given them 3rd place - a very close result.
All caught on the pole and, unlike in the summer, all fish were coming at 7-11m rather than the margins and on the deck. Both pellet and corn worked for me and it would seem the same for everyone else. Hands up who would like to go back again? |
