RECORD BREAKER
For the first time in the VAC's history a club water has
produced a national rod-caught record fish. Subject to verification and approval
this magnificent 4lb 10oz crucian beats the existing record by just 7dms.

Lucky captor Josh Blavins struck gold during a campaign at Moor Mill to catch
double figure bream. Fishing only during the day, Josh's visits had produced a
number of good bream including specimens over 10lb. His method feeder with
micro-pellets and an 8mm pellet was proving to be a consistent tactic yet it was
still a great shock when the crucian surfaced at the net.
Josh was soon on the phone to local bailiff Keith Speer who
ensured that numerous clear quality photos were taken to guarantee that there
was no doubt that the fish is a genuine crucian plus he supervised the weighing
on three sets of scales, settling on the lowest weight of 4.10 (the other two
showed 4.11).

As seen in the Angling Times, this surprise 53lb catfish was caught from
Smallford by Roger Tooley. As an illegally stocked fish the club was obliged to
have it taken away for re-location.

I can't tell you the captor's name but this catfish came from our consortium
waters at Turnford and went 42.04 on the scales.

Matt Gordon-Smith was delighted when this barbel, his 2nd ever, went 9.04. From
Marford of course.
You might strike gold at Riverside with this 5lb koi. Often seen but rarely
landed - bailiff Gary Lilley was the lucky man
