Moor Mill -
5 Years On
It was September 2005 when
the VAC got to take over the former LAA waters at Park Street. The first weekend
will be well remembered by the 50 or so volunteers who turned up and helped fill
some four skips with the accumulated rubbish after years of neglect.
As always, there were those who said
it will never work, that we would have to offer day tickets, that the car park
is unsafe and so on.
Bradley Wiffen with this 21lb perfect common from
the Island Lake
All those negative views have been
proved wrong and under the stewardship of fishery manager Paul Hill and his
bailiff team (in particular Keith Speers) the VAC's Moor Mill fishery has become
one of the VAC's most successful venues. Cautious fish stocking into the largest
water, the Island Lake, has produced a productive 'runs' water with many carp
anglers reporting good multiple catches of double-figure fish with the
occasional 'twenty'. Fast growth rates are being recorded so we should see the
average weights continue to rise. The Island Lake, along with the
other lakes on the venue also offers a chance of some very big tench, bream and
perch. The Leather Pit is home to the VAC's largest fish, 'Toadless',
a 40lb+ leather carp along with tench to 12lb and bream over 15lb.
The team have a long list of future
enhancements to implement so we fully expect Moor Mill to go from strength to
strength. Here's to the next five years !!!
Fishers Green Consortium
As the largest club in the
Fishers Green Consortium we are delighted to welcome new members who
are particularly keen to fish the former CEMEX fishery.
We appreciate you have a
choice of 11 clubs so we hope you will recognise the great value the VAC offers
with eight rivers venues, six still water complexes and access to eight
other consortiums in addition to Fishers Green.
Membership for 2010-11 Season
We've learnt that some who
were members last year think that if they've not renewed by June 16 then
they have to pay a joining fee again. This is not correct. So long as
you rejoin this season at any time you do not need to pay the joining
fee. However, should you not renew until next season you previous
membership will have been deemed to have lapsed. You will retain your
member ID, it stays with you for life, but if you let your membership
lapse for one or more complete seasons a joining fee will be required
when you come back. If you were a member last season and have not yet
renewed you can download a form, get a form from one of our local tackle
shops or, best of all, renew on-line via
Member Services. Once you have completed your details you will need
to print out and post back the form with payment and pictures if

However, a large number of
members have not yet sent in or uploaded a passport style picture which
we will need to print up your next membership card. We believe we have
now resolved some the technical difficulties but for those who cannot
upload a suitable picture please find time to either email your photo

Sadly Pat Waugh lost her husband Ian
last year but she still fishes when possible and was delighted to bank this

Allan Bayman landed this 16.08 grey
