There's more to fishing than fish
'CLUB' :
A club is an association of two or more people united by a common
interest or goal.
One theme
that is constantly repeated on the
VAC Forum and on the bank side is that the VAC has a reputation of being a
proper fishing 'club' offering not just good fishing but good fisheries. By that
they mean venues where nature is respected and fish stocks are nurtured. Where
bank side and water vegetation is both encouraged and controlled and where you
can enjoy a good days fishing...even if you don't catch fish.

Many members are also keen on
photography - Photo by Tom Carey
The aforementioned Forum has also
proved to be a useful way for members to share and resolve common problems and
to identify those with similar interests. The photo gallery and the picture
threads continual to attract some very attractive and arty pictures and recent
threads on barbel fishing on the Ouse and and the ethics of livebaiting have
attracted, at the time of writing, over 2,000 views and 250 replies between
them.
Aside from fishing, discussion
topics currently range from what camera to buy to how to dry a carpet. Of
course, only fair to warn that there's some friendly banter and
playground humour - not always to everyone's taste.
Beyond the Forum the club is making
a name for itself with the many events we run each season. For example, only
last month over 50 members trekked up to Felmersham for the recent barbel
'teach-in'. Next on the calendar is a fantastic opportunity to spend an evening
with one of the UK's most accomplished specialist anglers. Full details below.

of joining the VAC here's the excuse you've been looking for. For
further details of this and all VAC subscriptions, plus a link to our

Are you in 'Constant
Contact'?
The club has now issued
three 'new-style' E-News updates using a commercial solution called
Constant Contact and utilising the email addresses recorded by
members on our new Club database.
With
over 1,800 members it remains a frustration that only 578 have recorded
their email addresses. And we know from Constant Contact that
around 10% of these are not valid
Please make the effort to
ensure that your email address is correctly registered. If you have not
seen the last three issues of the new E-News then it's likely we do not
have your correct address. Please do not confuse the
fact that your email may be registered on the
VAC Forum -
these are totally independent systems. |

Marford does it again with the venue
record 2-14 roach to Steve Current. Ledgered maggot proved to be the successful
technique when Steve spotted a small shoal of big roach cruise into his swim.

Good to see club Registrar Ken
