Get' em Whilst They're Young

It's vital for the long term future of angling clubs such as the VAC that young people continue to take up angling. In recent years many clubs, including us, have been increasingly active in encouraging junior membership.

Our efforts have now taken a very big step forward with the appointment earlier this year of a new Junior Development Offcer (Jon Webb, pictured below) and the funding of several VAC officers to gain Level 1 and Level 2 angling coach accreditation

With this new enthusiasm in the club, head coach Roger Smith supported by our other qualified coaches, has been running a number of sessions for VAC junior members, predominantly at Riverside Rd. The club also agreed earlier this year to significantly reduce junior membership fees and juniors aged 12-16 can now join the VAC for just 18 with no extra joining fee. Juniors over 16 and under 18 on June 16 2011 can join for just 35.

All in all a lot has been happening in recent months to support our younger members. For lots more information why not visit our dedicated VAC Juniors website by clicking the Juniors link on the navigation bar above.

3,000lb of carp

This was the total weighed in by 27 VAC anglers fishing our most recent fixture at a commercial water in Essex. To save your fingers that's over 110lb per angler. The VAC match section has enjoyed yet another great season so far. For more results and information on forthcoming fixtures click the Match button on the left bar.

Fishers Green Consortium

As the largest club in the newly formed Fishers Green Consortium we are delighted to welcome new members who are particularly keen to fish the former CEMEX fishery.

We appreciate you have a choice of 11 clubs so we hope you will recognise the great value the VAC offers with eight rivers venues, six still water complexes and access to eight other consortiums in addition to Fishers Green.

Membership for 2010-11 Season

Important notice: We've learnt that some who were members last year think that if they've not renewed by June 16 then they have to pay a joining fee again. This is not correct. So long as you rejoin this season at any time you do not need to pay the joining fee. However, should you not renew until next season you previous membership will have been deemed to have lapsed. You will retain your member ID, it stays with you for life, but if you let your membership lapse for one or more complete seasons a joining fee will be required when you come back. If you were a member last season and have not yet renewed you can download a form, get a form from one of our local tackle shops or, best of all, renew on-line via Member Services. Once you have completed your details you will need to print out and post back the form with payment and pictures if applicable.

For more information click the Subscriptions button at the top.

Remember, that unless your email address is registered on Club DB, our membership database, we can't keep you up to date via e-news nor can we accept your application to join the VAC Forum. To check and update your details see the Subscriptions page

Picture Perfect?

Club DB, our excellent member database, is now serving us well with members able to log in and update their details at any time.

However, a large number of members have not yet sent in or uploaded a passport style picture which we will need to print up your next membership card. We believe we have now resolved some the technical difficulties but for those who cannot upload a suitable picture please find time to either email your photo (quoting ID number) or pop a picture in the post to the Registrar. More details on the Subscriptions page.

This is what we want to see, youngsters like George here with an 8lb'er from Frogmore

Here's possibly Marford's biggest barbel with specialist David Collins.
