another water for the VAC
Now we are spoiling you...
last months magnificent news was that the Verulam Angling Club are now part of
the Fishers Green Consortium, offer members access to some of the biggest chub
and barbel in the UK. This month we have news of yet another water now available
- and coming next month, news of yet more waters still to come !!!
Aldenham Reservoir, close to the A1
near Elstree and Borehamwood, has a glorious history of specimen fish and was
also capable of 50lb bags of roach. In recent years, cormorants, crayfish and
dense weed have impacted upon the fishing although massive carp, pike, bream and
tench are known to still be resident.
The fishery is now available to
current VAC members on a limited basis as some of the finer details are still
being negotiated. In time, the club hopes to re-introduce the use of boats on
the reservoir, as was the case many years ago, which allows access to some of
the better swims on the reservoir. Bank fishing continues to be restricted to
the same areas on the north and east banks and day ticket sales will also
More details on access to
Aldenham and any special restrictions or notices will be circulated via e-news
to all members who have registered their email address plus will be included
with your new season's membership pack. Anyone particularly keen to fish
Aldenham now and anyone keen to assist with bailiffing and fishery duties should
email Barry Killinger (details on the Contacts page).
Riverside Road - open for coarse fishing from
Monday 10th May
Membership for 2010-11 Season
should receive invitations
for renewal early in May. Some 1,800 were posted on Friday 30 April so
if yours does not arrive by Friday 7th May it could be that you have
moved and not updated your details or simply it's lost in the post.
We have not yet implemented
on-line payments therefore the process for renewal is the same as
previous years in that you tick the membership(s) you require, plus any
extras, add up the costs and send back the completed form plus cheque
payment and two passport photos (if we've not already got your picture
from last season). Please remember to include an A5 SAE.
Do not worry if you do not
get a form or mislay yours as you can renew on-line via
Member Services. Once you have completed your details you will need
to print out and post back the form with payment and pictures if

follow a similar process. Simply click this link to
register yourself as a new member on Member Services and complete
the form carefully. Select the membership and extras you require, print
out the completed form (remember to select Print to Fit so that
all the columns are included) and post back with an A5 SAE to the
address provided. Please either upload your passport style photo or
include two copies with your form as we print your picture directly onto
your membership card. Please DO NOT CREATE a new account if you
are an existing VAC MEMBER.
Additionally, new member
forms will be available from local tackle shops in May.
WE GOT YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS?
Remember, that unless your email
address is registered on Club DB, our membership database, we can't keep you up
to date via e-news nor can we accept your application to join the VAC Forum. To
check and update your details see the Subscriptions page
Club DB, our
excellent member database, is now serving us well with members able to
log in and update their details at any time.
However, a large number of
members have not yet sent in or uploaded a passport style picture which
we will need to print up your next membership card. We believe we have
now resolved some the technical difficulties but for those who cannot
upload a suitable picture please find time to either email your photo
(quoting ID number) or pop a picture in the post to the Registrar. More
details on the Subscriptions page.
