Membership goes Digital
All existing
VAC members should now have received, by post, an invitation
to renew their memberships for season 09/10. With numbers approaching 2,000 the
role of the Registrar has become almost a full time job. Simply copying members
details each year from returned forms onto a PC spreadsheet is an error prone
and onerous task.
To address the current issues plus
prepare the VAC for on-line payment and other services existing members are
being invited to enter their details on-line. Once completed they print off the
resultant application form and post it to the Registrar with the required amount
on a cheque.

This simple act will save many hours
and ensure much greater accuracy of the membership data held by the VAC. In
particular it will ensure that email addresses are accurate as we become more
reliant on using email to communicate news to members.
One key feature is that every member
will be issued with a unique ID that will remain constant 'for life'. In other
words, if you were not to renew for a few years then return, you would still use
your ID to access and update your details and to purchase new memberships.
So far the new process is working
well with just a few experiencing problems uploading photos (these will be
printed direct to your new membership card). We hope that once the system has
'bedded down' we can open it up in the Summer for new members also.
By way of an incentive, renewing
on-line is rewarded this year with a £1 discount. If you have not received your
renewal forms or have some questions to ask please check out the FAQ (frequently
asked questions) on the
Subscriptions page.

Riverside Opens - Trout Fishing Closes
Yet another successful year for the
VAC Trout Section with over 1,200 trout taken during the 10 week season at
Riverside Rd. Work is now underway to re-launch the VAC trout pages and finalise
some away-days during the year. And, as the trout fishing ends, coarse fishing
commences with gates opening at dawn on Monday 11th May. A reminder that
Riverside is closed for a club match on Sunday 17th.

Jakub Kumsta from the Czech Republic
has had this 19lb pike from Smallford.

Jakub again with another 19lb fish
from Smallford, this beautiful almost fully scaled mirror.

Junior James Lawrence holds the
Frogmore bream record with this pale looking fish of 4.06. Remember to claim the
venue record if you catch a bigger one.

Your friendly Webmaster Stan left
the keyboards behind for a trip to the Aylesbury Arm and used pole tactics for
this 10lb common along with a nice net of bream.
