She's Easy! Sue Shaw is
the latest lucky angler to bank 'Keith' from the Frogmore Match
Pool. Keith the Koi is believed to be female and has been a
feature of the Frogmore fishery since it was reworked back in
1996. She has been a regular visitor to the bank during April
and only days after Sue caught her (at 9lb 12oz) she was
reported by Tony Broadwood. Both anglers used flake float fished
in the margins.
Since the warmer weather arrived
it's fair to say that Frogmore has been fishing very well with
catches of up to 30 carp to double figures in a session. |

Meanwhile, our 'proper' carper's are having success too.
Following on from the landing of the fabulous 40lb Toadless last
month plenty of reports are coming in of catches from Smallford
and Moor Mill. Check out this beautiful common, just 8oz under
the magical 30lb mark for Smallford bailiff Terry Searle.
And it's not just carp that are
taking the boilies on these waters with a number of big (I mean
BIG) bream and tench putting in an appearance as well. Members
now have access to FOUR big fish waters holding 30lb carp with
three (Moor Mill, Turnford and Troy Lake (see below) known to
hold 40lb fish. |

Another new water for Verulam
Angling
From June 16 VAC members will
have access to some fantastic gravel pit fishing over at
Denham. Troy Lake, on the banks of the Colne, is known
to hold 40lb+ carp, tench and bream to challenge to UK
records and numerous other quality specimens. This is a
water sharing arrangement and a strictly limited number of
night fishing tickets are also available.
More details and pictures
will be added to the Fisheries Section of this site shortly.

Manor Farm Fisheries. Offering 5 lakes, a match canal
and a stretch of the River Ivel, a range of types of
fishing including a fly-only trout lake (Damsel Lake), an
any method trout and mixed coarse fish lake (Becks Lake), a
2 acre mixed lake (Blunham Lake), a 4 acre specimen carp
lake (Carp Lake) and our very popular specimen carp lake
(Winters Lake) stocked in 2004 with fish from 18lb to 36lb.
By special arrangement Verulam members, on production of a
valid membership and photo card, enjoy a £1 discount
across all standard ticket prices.

Connor Mcgrath
caught this Carp on sweetcorn over 4mm pellets at 6m on his
pole at Frogmore in mid March. We estimated the fish at
between 13- 14lbs. |
