Fish with no name
This immaculate condition common weighs 31.02. Well, at
least it did today (May 7th) when it was introduced to it's new
home at Smallford. Hopefully it will be even bigger when it next
appears in front of a camera when perhaps it will gain a 'name'
Holding this beauty is Barry Killinger, VAC Fisheries Manager
and, behind the apprehensive expression, he is delighted that
again the club has been able to demonstrate that it supports all
the various divisions within the VAC, whether it be carp, match,
trout or just pure and simple pleasure angling.
In addition to the one very fit looking fish, over 900 smaller
carp, tench and crucians have found new homes in Riverside,
adding to the many young roach introduced in April. A reminder
that Riverside opens for coarse fishing at first light on Sunday
15th May.

Pictures Speak Louder.....
Whether you are an existing member about to renew, or a
prospective new member, one thing you don't want to do is leave
it too late.
In previous seasons, a number of applications are not received
until quite late in the season. With membership levels hitting
new highs each year the General Committee are taking serious
consideration to a cap on numbers and this could mean you could
miss out.
Renewal forms are being sent out soon and new members can
download forms from
here.

Trout News
|
The season got off to a wonderful start in
early March in spite of poor weather for the
first week or so with the Section's best
ever results continuing since. By 24 April,
the returns were 177 rods and 490 fish, that
is just under 2.8 fish per rod per day, very
close to the limit of 3 fish per day at a
cost of only £7 per ticket. The average fish
weight this year is a bit over 2 pounds
compared to previous years when the average
tended to be just over 1 pound. So far, we
have sold Season and Day Tickets to 43
separate VAC Members plus, of course,
several Guest tickets to non-club members;
quite an improvement over last year.
The season will end on Thursday 12 May and
the Section will mark the start of last week
with the Dave Marlborough Memorial
Competition at 1800 for 1830 on Friday 6 May
when there will be no limit to the number of
trout taken. It's a fun event and the Trout
Committee hope to see many Members there but
booking via Bob Nutley on 07940 511053 or
e-mail r.Nutley@btinternet.com is advised as
space is limited. It costs only s £4 per
Trout Season Ticket holder (£2 going to the
British Heart Foundation and £2 distributed
as prize money), and £4 plus a Day Ticket of
£7 for other VAC Members. A cup will be
presented to the winner.
