New members
always welcome
Never say never they say. Well the VAC has never
closed its doors on new members and all the signs are that season 2011-12 will
build on the success and growth of 2010-11.
It's true that some
do ask if we should put a cap on membership numbers. Always, the response to
this is why? Because, aside from the very popular Marford short-walk and on the
occasional sunny Sunday at Riverside and Frogmore, our waters always have plenty
of space. Rather than restrict numbers the VAC's policy of adding at least one
new water a year (we now have almost 20 venues to choose from) ensures that we
can offer one of the most diverse portfolio's of any angling club in the
South-East.
On the subject of new waters, a reminder, our most recent
addition, our freehold lakes and stretch of river at Bellows Mill
opens to members on June 16. Following extensive reworking, Mill Lake is now a
general coarse fishery and also a 'carp-free-zone'. Aside from the grass carp of
course. Ford Lake is being developed as a trout fishery. The river stocks are a
bit of a mystery but chub, pike, roach and perch can be seen.
Bream there, done that!

Riverside bailiff Gary Lilley enjoyed a bumper day fishing
the feeder at Riverside with good fish coming regularly throughout the session.
Using bunches of maggots he had plenty of carp around the 5lb mark with a best
of 9lb plus numerous bream. These ranged from 2lb to this new venue record of
4.10. OK, so that's small compared to many of our other venues but everything is
relative and Gary was rightly pleased with this highlight to his estimated 80lb
catch.

Picture Perfect?
Club DB, our
excellent member database, is now serving us well with members able to

we MUST HAVE to print up your next membership card. We believe we
