Happy 100 !!

Yet another milestone has been reached - 100 editions of the VAC web site. I started the site back in March 2000 as simply an electronic version of the familiar posted newsletters. Over the years we have had numerous 'tweaks' and two complete makeovers to get where we are today.

Over this time the importance and value of our presence on the World Wide Web has increased significantly and many new members are choosing to join us simply based on the detail and positive impression provided by the VAC online.

Like all things in life, it's not always been plain sailing and we have moved hosting providers twice and are now on our third incarnation of our very popular 'members-only' forum. We have been fortunate to be sponsored through the years by our friends at Queensway Angling in Hemel Hempstead and, whilst it's a struggle at times,  I have always managed to get some timely contributions from you, our members, to illustrate the quality and value of VAC waters.

Onward and upward as they say and work will continue behind the scenes on a number of IT related initiatives for the club. I am also pleased to announce that pals Matt Young (cover star from last month) and Dom Rickard have volunteered to provide content for the somewhat stagnant Junior Section.

So, as ever, please please send me your photos, stories or whatever and, if any juniors would like to contribute to the junior section please feel free to email me on the link below and I will forward it on.

Finally a reminder that you can view all the back issues of the VAC site simply by clicking the Archive button at the top and also a big thank you for the positive feedback received over the years. Here's to the next 100 !! - Stan Kiddle - VAC IT Manager and Webmaster

Get Ready for the Kick Off

Nothing to do with football. Instead a reminder that the VAC Championship matches start with the first of the series on June 15th at Riverside Road. Also, the first of four Junior, Ladies & Seniors matches is the day before, June 14, at Frogmore which is also the venue on the evening of June 19th for the first of our ever popular evening series. For more detail see the Match pages and also click here for a preview.

KEEPNET SENSE

The VAC allows keepnets on many of its fisheries and, like many commercial fisheries, no longer uses chemical dips.

To ensure that your nets do not transport disease and viruses please ensure that nets and stinkbags are dried out after use. Simple exposure to sunlight and drying is proven to be the best way of keeping nets bug free.

VAC Forum

Our new forum is going from strength to strength. Whilst many are happy just to read the catch reports we also have a hardcore of members who mix humour and friendly banter with some good ideas and sensible comments. As with all such things, the value of the VAC forum is enhanced by the numbers of regular users so this is your invite to join in.

The forum, which is closely monitored by our band of moderators, is strictly for VAC members only and is a great way to keep up with the latest news and to make your opinions known.

However, certain rules are in place to ensure 'fair play' - please read and abide by these to ensure your visit to the forum isn't your last. It is vitally important that only bona-fide members can post on the forum, any inappropriate postings, as defined in the T&Cs, will be dealt with in the proper manner.

 JOIN HERE

All new applications are manually vetted (and we all have day jobs), therefore please be patient if approval of your request to join the forum takes a few days.

Please note that Hotmail users need to check their junk folder for automated replies from the forum software. We have a number of applications fail where the member has not seen our replies.

Your Contribution

Dan's the man down at t'Mill. Pellet Waggler accounted for this surprise 11lb grass carp.

Still at Moor Mill and bailiff Keith Speer timed his moment to bag nine carp on the pole for over 110lb. This was the biggest at 16-05.

New Junior page 'editor' Dom Rickard is a regular at Frogmore and had this plump crucian carp out of Tony's Lake.

.

Surface fishing tempted this 11lb+ common for Matt Young - the fourth time he's caught it this year from Frogmore. It's distinctive as a patch of scales are missing where it's been mishandled over rough ground. Please always use an unhooking mat and keep fish over it when taking photos.
