A big welcome to the many new members who have joined in the last few months. It's been great to see many of you enjoying our waters for the first time and I'm delighted to receive your emails and pictures.

The last three months or so have proved to be a great showcase for what our waters offer and below is a list of some of the highlights reported so far since April this year:-

I've deliberately not mentioned the precise venues for the specimens reported but it shouldn't be too difficult to work out if you read the VAC forum and ask other members. Suffice to say all within five miles of St Albans.

Our new Moor Mill fishery at Park St has been producing quality fish for those prepared to put in the effort. And in the front of the queue for just rewards must be Jimmy Warren who has banked over 28 carp from the complex this year.

	Working Party Success
Jimmy is part of our bailiff team who have worked hard to clear up and enhance this ex-LAA water after years of neglect. He's pictured left with this fantastic two-tone mirror which banged the scales down to 22lb and is the biggest fish in School Pit. Tench to over 6lb and big perch have also been reported from this very shallow and tricky venue.

Check out the amount of work needed to install four dug-out swims on the Island Pit.

A reminder that the river season starts on Friday June 16th. Also, first VAC matches start on June 17 @ Riverside for Ladies, juniors and over 60's and Smallford on Sunday for Round 1 of the Knockout.

Another new water for Verulam Angling

From June 16 VAC members will have access to some fantastic gravel pit fishing over at Denham. Troy Lake, on the banks of the Colne, is known to hold 40lb+ carp, tench and bream to challenge to UK records and numerous other quality specimens. This is a water sharing arrangement and a strictly limited number of night fishing tickets are also available.

Also, check the link for Manor Farm Fisheries. Offering 5 lakes, a match canal and a stretch of the River Ivel,  a range of types of fishing including a fly-only trout lake (Damsel Lake), an any method trout and mixed coarse fish lake (Becks Lake), a 2 acre mixed lake (Blunham Lake), a 4 acre specimen carp lake (Carp Lake) and our very popular specimen carp lake (Winters Lake) stocked in 2004 with fish from 18lb to 36lb. By special arrangement Verulam members, on production of a valid membership and photo card, enjoy a £1 discount across all standard ticket prices.

Shark Wrestling

VAC bailiff and all-round good guy Paul Hill is offering to teach shark wrestling to anyone interested. No previous experience necessary but Paul did say that West Ham and Millwall fans are preferred.
