Roll up, Roll up

it's the VAC OPEN DAY

Building on the success of previous years, the VAC will this month once again throw open the gates of our Riverside Road fishery in St Albans.

Whatever your angling interest and whether you are a member or not, you and your family are more than welcome to come along, meet the team and share in a great day.

New Kempston fishery comes up trumps for Brandon Lilley

After a disastrous start to the day, fishing at Felmersham and Milton Ernest after barbel and chub, my dad and I decided to go and have a look at Kempston lake which was just down the road. When we got there we decided to tackle up for a few hours before we went home. It was a slow start, fishing on the ledger with 8mm pellets but the wait finally paid off when the tip went round and I was into a 11lb linear carp. We slipped her back into the water and re-baited up and placed the bait in the same spot. 30 minutes later the tip went round again but this time, the fish bolted outwards nearly taking all 150 yards of line on my spool. After a agonising 20 minute fight, we managed to net the carp and straight away we could see it was a new pb. We weighed the beautiful common carp and the scales whizzed round to 19lb 2oz of stunning common carp. This is a lake record and most important, my new pb English carp.
