The Glorious 16th
|
Despite year-round fishing on many still waters, for most of us
the date of 16th June remains magical, symbolising misty dawns
by tranquil lily covered lakes seeking tench and crucians.
 |
OK, so we start a week early at Riverside but, as
illustrated left in this great dawn pic from peg 11 (thanks
to Norman Courtnell), those who had the chance to be at
Riverside on the 7th of June enjoyed a traditional tench
fishers dawn, followed by plenty of small tench,
crucians, roach and carp. So far during June Riverside has
proved that it still has a healthy stock of fish with plenty
of carp to nearly 16lb coming out plus bags of smaller fish
exceeding 50lb, mostly on pellet and corn.
Even good to see a few of the old dog roach coming out, as
well as plenty of plump young un's. Where were all these
fish last winter when only small perch and the occasional
carp could be caught?
Did the season start well for you? Have you got some good
pics, or a story to tell? Well, how about making my job
easier and sending them to me? See link below. |

Your Contribution
|
What a surprise, this last month I've had a
number of members make the effort to send
through some great pics.

Paul Hill had these Smallford beauties back
in May, the mirror went 26-10 and came from
'Snags' the common hit the scales at 24-12
and came from 'Bricks' - both falling to
Paul's secret boilie recipe. The bent pole
was a one-handed snap by Peter Giles whilst
hanging onto a 14lb common caught whilst
everyone else was off watching England's 1st
round match in Portugal. He added some good
bream and a 5lb tench, fishing pellet in the
Frogmore carpark pool. Not bad for a pole
'newbie'
