Winter
Melody
It's easy to get complacent these days with the generally mild
and wet winter we've had but here's a reminder from last year
that it's not spring yet.

Keeping the focus on
Moor Mill, it's fair to say that it's been fishing its socks off
over the last month or so. So good in fact that Moor Mill head
bailiff Paul Hill has put finger to keyboard to document the
events of a recent weekend visit.
Paul, pictured over
on the right with a recent 10lb bream reports as follows:
January. Not
traditionally an angler‘s favourite month. More than a few of us
choose to stow away the tackle and put our feet up, recharging
the batteries for springtime when the fish will start to feed in
earnest once again. Not so the thirty-three hardy souls whose
tickets I checked on a Sunday towards the end of January at Moor
Mill!
I’d gone down to Moor Mill on a Friday night to get a weekend’s
carp fishing in; the forecast was for some heavy rain, but with
milder weather to follow. I was quite pleased when I found that
I had the Island Lake all to myself on the Friday night. This
was not to last, however, as by Sunday morning the complex
looked like an angling convention in full swing. The weather had
turned unseasonably mild, and the anglers had arrived in their
droves.

Looking Back
Keeping the
nostalgia theme going (who's nostalgic about last years snow
you say), here's a snap from the archives of the
construction of Riverside Road during 1970. The picture was
taken from the golf course side looking across to peg 20.
The young dude
in the shades in none other than our club secretary John
Trew. Anyone know the names of the others? The young boy
will be 40 something now. |

Trout Fishing
A
reminder that Riverside Road closes for for coarse
fishing on Tuesday 26th February and reopens on 12 May.
Trout fishing will commence on Thursday 28th February.

VAC Forum
under review
The VAC
General Committee have had to address a number of sensitive
issues over the last few months which have originated from
the VAC forum.
It became
clear that greater control was needed to avoid inappropriate
and possibly damaging comments being made in the public
domain. Therefore the GC agreed to suspend the forum whilst tighter controls over
content and access are established. This will also
provide an opportunity to review the different sections
offered and the processes behind administration and
moderation.
Apologies to
those of your who are regular users and we hope you will
understand and respect the need to instigate this review and
any subsequent changes. We expect it to return early in
2008. |

Moor Mill head
bailiff Paul
Hill demonstrates what a double figure Island Lake bream looks
like.

Here's a pretty pic of Smallford at
dusk from a couple of years back. I'm short on new
material...what's the problem out there? We know you're catching
so don't be shy, send in your pics.

Rest In Peace
'Keith'. The popular Koi at Frogmore has passed on after
enjoying 12 years and most of the lakes. Never quite double
figures she was a frequent visitor to the banks and always
seemed in good health.
