Not had any snow at Riverside yet

Most anglers
are aware of the new threat to fish stocks from east Europeans.
Carp, in particular, is a Christmas tradition in many European
countries and you are likely to see 4lb carp for sale in most
supermarkets over the next few weeks. Unfortunately the concept
of releasing fish to fight another day is not always understood
by these new arrivals to the UK

We are therefore
grateful to the Luton Angling Club who initiated the development
of universal signs now being issued by Cemex in conjunction with
the EA and other. Expect to see these around VAC waters,
particularly those accessible by the general public, in the near
future.

We don't want your fish
On many UK
waters these days it's not uncommon to catch goldfish and Koi
that have clearly been introduced by well intentioned
individuals.
Whilst the vast
majority of these fish are in good health there is a very real
danger that diseases, in particular KHV (Koi Herpes Virus) could
enter our waters.
If you have pond
fish that you can no longer accommodate please do not release
them into club or public waters. The risks these days are simply
too high.

VAC Forum
under review
The VAC
General Committee have had to address a number of sensitive
issues over the last few months which have originated from
the VAC forum.
It's now become
clear that greater control is needed to avoid inappropriate
and possibly damaging comments being made in the public
domain. Therefore the GC has agreed to suspend the forum and
it will remain 'off the air' whilst tighter controls over
content and who has access are established. This will also
provide an opportunity to review the different sections
offered and the processes behind administration and
moderation.
Apologies to
those of your who are regular users and we hope you will
understand and respect the need to instigate this review and
any subsequent changes. We expect it to return early in
2008. |
