Santa delivers early to the VAC
Almost a ton* of fish stocked into
local waters
|
|
|
The VAC prides itself on providing a range of diverse quality
fishing for our members. We must be doing something right as
membership is now not far from 1350 which is a massive 100 up on
last year.
With increased income we are able to spend more money on
additional stocks for our local still waters and also transfer
fish between waters to keep a balance and to cater for different
angling styles.
Riverside in
particular, has had a large number of carp from 1oz to 5lb added
as this water is considered 'safe' and can be used to grow on
and provide stock to our other waters in future. In addition to
the carp we have introduced 500 small chub which we hope we grow
on to eat the crayfish and 1000 small crucians. Earlier in 2005
we also stocked several hundred baby tench plus 150lb of
crucians and tench into Tony's Lake at Frogmore.
Also at Frogmore, several hundred small and hungry mirrors (see
right) to 4lb have been
introduced to the match pool and some of the larger carp to 12lb
have been relocated (see pic below) to the Island Pit at Moor Mill.
These made up a total of 55 upper singles and doubles to 15lb
added in recent weeks to provide more reliable sport to members
seeking larger fish.
Smallford has also enjoyed some new fish and the 30lb'ers added
early in 2005 appear to be doing well. .

Unlike many clubs we continue to invest in our fisheries and
strive to obtain more fisheries for you.......
Plans to continue with improvements around our existing
fisheries will be kicking off in the new year which will start
with the building of new platforms at Radwell and Felmersham.
As seen, stocking at Riverside, Frogmore, Smallford and the
newly acquired Moor Mill has been high on the agenda and this
will continue throughout 2006.
The acquisition of the old Park Street Pits at Frogmore, now
known as Moor Mill is the icing on the cake as far as many of us
are concerned for this year. These fisheries have so much
potential which we plan to exploit sensibly and with the full
support of members and local residents.
We have an excellent group of bailiffs and fishery officers to
help look after these fisheries and over the last few months
improvements can be seen with litter now becoming under control
and the landlords are helping to open up the islands lake and
make it more accessible.
