Lancaster Lake

Lysander Park Fisheries

Lancaster Lake is one of a number of lakes named in acknowledgement of the location on former RAF Sawbridgeworth. The site is well known as a wartime war airfield where Lysander and Spitfire aircraft were among the many types stationed although it's now general farmland with just a few clues still apparent giving away its vitally important role during that period. Back in 2007 a number of lakes were developed on the site by its present owners and named after some of the most iconic aircraft of the second world war. Lancaster and Spitfire epitomises the enormous nostalgia of that period in time.

LYSANDER PARK FISHERIES IS PRIVATE PROPERTY AND ACCESSIBLE BY MEMBERS ONLY OR BY PRIOR ARRANGEMENT - Please call Barry Killinger on 07966 394717.

Overview

The club has access to three of the lakes on site namely, Lancaster, Hurricane and Lysander.

The Verulam AC only have fishing rights to these fisheries. We do not manage the upkeep of the fisheries as that is the responsibility of our landlords. The bailiffs are employed by the landlords and should be shown respect at all times. Any disciplinary actions will be managed as our disciplinary procedures manual endorsed by the Verulam AC.

There are two other two lakes are Spitfire and Harrier and are out of bounds to our members with the exception of Spitfire Lake which can be booked privately at cost by contacting the landlord to make the necessary arrangements. The lake only has four swims but is stocked heavily with carp to 30lb and catfish to 45lb.
