I’m a young lady member of the
club and been fishing (visiting) the lakes before I was walking. I
thought I would just share a few memories and make some people, well at
least one person laugh.
Before I carry on I’ll explain a little. I love my pole I used to have a blue pole ‘cos I believed fish would not see it when they look up but now with more water and bigger fish that I could accidentally catch so I had to move on to bigger tackle so the blue pole was then sold on but still have all the other blue tackle. I fish in juniors, ladies and seniors matches and any social event I’m there with my "Ladies fish too" top, I’m sorry guys I haven’t only invaded the fishing banks and the forum, I’m now taking over the web site :) |
| Well best start at first match which was a triangle match which was 3 clubs split in 3 teams of 3, fished at shepherds’ way. Some people may remember this match for the swimming pole, well that happened to be mine. The usual excuse, I was busy talking to one of the organisers when my pole was pulled out of my hands and was swimming round the lake. It was only a 5 metre telescopic pole so it would just stay afloat several people set up a rod with a bomb and in the end someone from other team got it back for me. I had lost the fish by then it had just pulled out but I could carry on to try again. At the end all participants got a goody bag of little items; a pack of hooks, my first ever disgorger and a few floats. Oh yes the important bit I did catch a few roach but they were nice fish .The bag that won was one of the oldest boys and it was 30lb bag of carp. I beat my elder brother, though. | ![]() |
| Most memorable fishing trip was at Frogmore before it was remodelled (in 1996) and before the new people in the house, the old owner some might remember had his goats roaming round the lake specially in the hilly areas well I got bored of fishing and went for a walk and started to feed the goats my crisps but this one goat was not happy with the idea that the packet was all gone and he followed me to my swim. I sat down on my seat box, started fishing when this goat took a disliking to me and head butted me off my box luckily I wasn’t hurt. I don’t think I even caught so not only did I have my lunch nicked I was beaten up and no fish. | |

Well more to fishing, after Frogmore was remodelled dad and, I chose to fish in what is known as the car park pit, which then was stocked with bream and tench. I had tried with my pole but found it hard as the swim I was in was right next to the bridge, so a lot of people was walking past. So I chose to go out my comfort zone and used a rod which was very funny for any onlookers as every attempt at a cast there was a crows nest on my line but after a few shouts later and a few teaching words from dad (but more like nags), I managed to catch a few nice size bream so out went my keepnet as I was only eleven numbers still meant more then weight, but after about five hours it had slowed down got dark and I was cold and very bored at this point so I chose to bring in my net full of fish which weighed in at 35lb which was more then a could count up to so dad took a photo and we sent it into Improve Your Course Fishing along with a picture of a 5lb bream which was included in that bag. As a result I got two badges which the got me really enjoying this game/ sport called fishing.

When I was about 13 fishing once Frogmore match lake but after the remodelling I was fighting what I thought was a nice size carp so I using my pole so I was using my number 12 elastic and 4-1/2lb line pole rig so not going to mad with it but 20 minutes in the fish showed signs of tiring. Oh how wrong was I, I had a glimpse of the fish realised it was the koi known as Keith and me being me started fighting it too soft and being to wary of the fish’s movements and sadly Keith got off. But as I've been informed the is another koi of the same colour that I could have had on but as I never landed it I will never know.
| As some of you
know I will go out to enjoy myself and if I catch that’s a bonus I don’t
take fishing too seriously but will be sensible with what I do. I'm
always learning and always willing to learn more and try new things and
in exchange of the knowledge I will return the same but you most
probably already know all of it so all you ladies out there make
yourselves known even if you don’t catch you don’t need to be a grumps
about it you’ve had a day of the cleaning. ……………………… to be continued
