The VAC doors remain open for new members for another season
despite another record year. If you are thinking of joining the VAC for the
coming season we offer a number of options. In addition to the usual choices of
adult, junior, partner, and family memberships we provide concessionary rates
for over 65's and the disabled. Plus under 12's can fish for FREE when
accompanied by a member.
Start now: Our membership year commences 16th June but if you
join 'over the counter' at the Verulam Angling Centre in Hatfield Road, St
Albans (opposite Morrisons) you can pay a one-off surcharge of just £15 and
start immediately.
As a taster of what we offer, here's Dan Wright, one of the Smallford bailiff
team, with one of several large carp he banked towards the end of April. A super
8lb tench added variety.
Our membership process is based on an online secure database so we do encourage
you to complete all your details via our
Member Services
link and then print-out and post your application with your payment. That way
there's less risk of error with key details such as postal and email addresses.
We also invite you to upload your passport-style photo which saves you having to
print out your picture or use one of those booths.
Payment can be made via cheque or Postal Order and we also invite you to
complete a Direct Debit form to make renews easier for future seasons. Currently
we can only accept payment via credit card for over the counter sales. Payment
via on-line banking will be introduced later this year.

Open Day at Riverside is currently planned for Saturday July
14th. The popular Carp Matches at Moor Mill and Smallford kick off w/e of 10/11
May. More details on the Specialist Pages.

Match News:
The final Spring 'warm-up' match is on 13th May at Riverside.
We also have a few places open for the Champion of Champions match at
Tyler's Common on 20th May and a trip to The Warren in Essex for 27th
May. Later in the year,
perhaps August, we are looking at the possibility of running a fishing
race with points per species per venue.

WORK PARTY TIME
Keep a look out for VAC e-news in your in-box as a number
of work parties are now being planned. As the deadline of 1st May has passed
attending one of these will count for your 2013/14 membership.

During the warm days at the end of March plenty of carp were safely sunning
themselves at Riverside
VAC match record and national crucian carp record holder Josh Blavins landed this 28lb common
on the pole. Sadly not from a VAC venue though.
Once again the Specialist Committee arranged a couple of day trips out on the
punts at Bury Hill near Guildford. This pic shows a rare moment between heavy
showers.
