Memberships for Season 16/17 now on sale

Best Season Yet?

The results are in.... and it's clear that the majority of Verulam's waters have delivered great results since the start of the season.

As reported last time, our lakes at Frogmore and Riverside Rd have provided stunning sport with a five match weight of 96lb at Frogmore providing further illustration.

A short distance up the road at Moor Mill the Island Lake and been a model of consistency with regulars and first-timers getting amongst the quality carp with lots of upper doubles and a few twenties interspersed with the occasional large bream (to double figures) and quality tench. The complex has produced at least one double-figure tench this season.

Above is Darren Grimmer. Here's his story...please find the photos of the common I caught at Lancaster yesterday. I had nice couple of days with my son Charlie and brother-in-law Dave. The fished was weighed at 35lb 4oz. It was in lovely nick. I fished peg 9 and had my baits 2 rod lengths of the corner of the island. I spodded around 2 kilos of particles over the two days. The hook baits were bloodworm dumbells. We had around 18 fish between us which was great considering the heat!!!!  Just a quick thanks to everyone who runs the club. We are very pleased to have joined and have found everyone to very down to earth and friendly.  Cheers for now.

Smallford looks to be bouncing back as well. Whether this is due to some thinning of the bream stocks or just nature taking it's course we will never know but plenty of carp to low 30's have been reported.

Marford continues to sparkle with the usual bumper bags of barbel and chub but it's also great to see plenty of good fish being reported from the long walk with barbel to 10lb now coming out along with carp to 15lb and other quality fish.

Our new deal with Willows Farm has been proving popular and the match lake in particular is providing manic sport with turbo-charged carp from 3-8lb dragging rods in if you dare turn your back.

Lysander fisheries, over near Sawbridgeworth has also been on red-hot form. Pleasure sessions on Lysander lake have been producing numerous carp to double figures plus the odd big bream and up on Lancaster Lake our members are flocking back to enjoying regular action with the average weight well up this year and fish to over 30lb reported.

Match News

The VAC match section has had a good start to 2016/17 with some very close results and a few 'upsets'

Our Riverside results are way above expectation and Frogmore is fishing well with match weights to almost a ton. As we approach Autumn we have some excellent venues lined up.

It's a very sociable bunch of guys and new-comers are more than welcome. Generally pools are optional so you could simply come along and fish for the experience and the learning if you wish. Just make sure you book in first as many venues have a limited number of pegs.

For all the details please take a look at the VAC match pages.
