Exotica
Ironic that
recently we've made a point about
illegal stockings of fish that have overgrown garden ponds then to find several
members pleased as punch with recent captures of such exotica.
Hot on the heels (or should that be
fins?) of the 11lb grass carp from Moor Mill last month this beautiful golden
orfe has been caught several times from the MM Island lake with our hard working
Registrar Ken amongst the list of lucky anglers (see right) although captor
below is known only to me as Warren.

Over at Leasey Bridge Keith (again,
no surname) landed a beautiful copper, bronze & gold koi which has been
nicknamed 'Tugboat' - see right. Part of a great days catch which included
barbel to 6lb and a 9lb ghostie.
If you do have fish needing a new
home please contact our fisheries manager, Barry Killinger, who will do his best
to help. Do not simply tip them into the nearest VAC water.
Match Section Update
| The VAC
match section has enjoyed some excellent fixtures so far this season
with between 20 and 30 fishing and a top weight of 62lb of bream from
Smallford.
Evening matches have also
been very popular on all our venues with 52lb in three hours the best
weight so far and Dave McGrath recording two 2nd's and a 3rd and Paul
Bangs winning the first two heats by focussing on small fish.

detail see the Match pages and also

Lea Anglers Consortium - Power
Lines
It has been decided that the LAC
cannot put themselves in legal risk as British Waterways is unwilling to consent
to the previous agreement.
Thus, with immediate
effect, fishing will not be allowed on any of the stretches as follows:-
- 30
meters either side of any power line cross or overhanging the
navigation.
-
Any low cable on wooden poles for example at Cheshunt and Aqueduct
Lock.
-
Linear power lines running north along the towpath: From Lee Park
Way bridge just above the A406 to Peg 25 (Blue Doors) Ponders End
downstream and from the overflow trough to the reservoirs above The
Navigation PH, Ponders End to the Swan & Pike pool below Enfield
lock.
This will still allow,
apart from crossing power lines, fishing from Tottenham to Lee Park Way
bridge, pegs 1-24 below Ponders End lock, upstream of lock to the
overflow and the short length from Swan & Pike Pool to Enfield lock.
Above Enfield except low cables on wooden poles and crossing power
lines.
The bailiffs have been
instructed to request any anglers fishing the affected areas, to move to
another peg. |

Pete Hinchcliffe sent in this pic of
his mate Keith with this beautiful11lb koi from Leasey Bridge on floating crust.

Here's that orfe again with
Registrar Ken Moruton. This time caught from the river side of the Island lake
at Moor Mill.

3lb is not big for a bream...unless
it's from Riverside. Caught a bigger one from there? Then let us know. Kev Laird
bagged this one on pellet.

Steve Hannington reported this PB
male tench of 7-04 from Smalford on corn.

Rhys Shield tried his luck in the
Car Park lake at Frogmore and was rewarded with a 12.07 common and this
beautiful 10-0 ghostie.
