Memberships now closed - Season 16/17 tickets on sale from end April

Another Good Year

As I write this, the sun is setting on the end of another river season. It's March 14 and our fabulous barbel, chub and roach on our Lea, Ivel & Ouse fisheries will get three-months break.

Our books have just been closed and great to report that our numbers are consistent with last year and already we are receiving enquiries from prospective new members for the new season.

Our numerous fisheries have performed well and interest in our Events plus our  Match and Trout fishing are higher than ever.  This season our extensive portfolio of venues was enhanced with a return to our books of Jack's Lake in Hadley Wood, Cockfosters and we hope to announce another great local water before the membership year starts on June 16.

As the weather starts to warm up our team of qualified angling coaches will be announcing their 'classes' for the Summer months and we are planning an Open Day at Smallford showcasing numerous angling techniques from zig-rigging for carp to long-pole fishing for bream and roach.

Above, no smiling angler with a PB for our headline picture this issue,  just a reminder of the beauty of the seasons as we leave Winter behind and anticipate Summer. Pictures are our Ouse venue at Felmersham and Riverside Road in St Albans.

In mid April the General Committee will be seeking approval for new season rates and pricing structure (some major changes are being considered) which will then allow us to go to print on membership forms, seek direct debit payments and issue renewal packs.

All in all, there's plenty to look forward to so if you are looking to join the VAC please check back towards the end of April for any updates as we do try to get our 'early-starter' options out as soon as possible.

Match News
Congratulations to Allan Bayman for winning this seasons VAC Championship.

The VAC match section remains very popular with the focus on fun, hence our optional pools are just 6. Why not look to join us next season? You will be made very welcome and there will be plenty of help and advice available if needed.

Also we now have our season 16-17 fixture list available. For all the details please take a look at the VAC match pages.

A reminder that the Webmaster welcomes your contributions. Happy to receive your photos of  VAC venues, rainbows, kingfishers or unicorns. Doesn't have to be a fish

This issue I've selected a few of the best snaps from 2015. Back in June Steve Brooks bagged this 16lb barbel from the Ivel.

The carp at Marford keep growing. Richard Denny had this mirror at 16.10.

Another Lea carp was this 10lb Koi from Leasey Bridge for Barry Arthurs.

Our hard-working fisheries manager, Barry Killinger, put in an appearance at the first Riverside match of the Summer to win with almost 40lb.
